Basket Random is a 2-player ragdoll basketball game where the court, players, ball, and physics all change after every single basket. You play to 5 points, but no two points ever play the same — one round you have normal arms, the next your character is flailing with limbs twice the usual length. It’s one-button chaos and genuinely one of the best local 2-player games in any browser. No download, no account, works on any device.

Controls
One key controls your entire team — jumping, shooting, and defending all happen with the same button. The timing of your press and release is everything.
| Action | Player 1 | Player 2 | Mobile |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jump / move toward ball | W | Up Arrow ↑ | Tap your half of screen |
| Hold to carry ball | Hold W | Hold ↑ | Hold your side |
| Release to shoot | Release W | Release ↑ | Release tap |
| Block / defend | Hold W near ball | Hold ↑ near ball | Hold while near ball |
When you hold your key, the ball sticks to your character’s hands while they jump. Release and the ball launches toward the basket. The direction and angle of your release determines where it goes. On mobile, the screen splits in half — tap your side to control your team.

What Changes After Every Basket
This is what separates Basket Random from every other browser basketball game. After each point is scored, the game randomizes a new set of conditions before the next round begins. You cannot settle into a pattern — you read the new setup and adjust immediately.
| What Changes | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Court and environment | Surface traction, background, and layout all shift |
| Player body proportions | Arm length, weight, and jump height randomize — sometimes drastically |
| Ball size and weight | Heavy balls need lower closer shots; light balls reward distance and angles |
| Point value | Some rounds award double points for a basket — adapt your aggression |
The Courts — How Each One Plays
You cannot choose which court appears — it’s selected randomly after each basket. Each surface has different physics that reward a different approach.
| Court | Surface Feel | Adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| Gym | Standard hardwood, normal traction | No change needed — use this to practice baseline timing |
| Beach | Sand, slightly slower movement | Good for beginners, forgiving physics |
| City Park | Outdoor concrete, standard | Same as gym — solid and predictable |
| Snow | Slippery ground, landing slides | Account for the slide when positioning after a jump |
| Ice | Maximum slip, hardest surface | Time every jump carefully — sliding is extreme and unpredictable |

Tips That Actually Help
Watch the ball, not your characters. Your ragdolls move chaotically regardless of input. Focus on the ball’s path and move into it rather than chasing your own players around the screen.
Stay close to your own hoop on defense. Most points are scored when a player gets directly under the basket. Keep at least one of your two characters near your hoop at all times.
Use the fake shot. Hold your key and move toward the basket as if shooting, then release earlier or later than expected. Opponents who learn your timing can be thrown off with one early or delayed release.
Identify the ball weight immediately. When a new round starts, the first thing to figure out is whether the ball is heavy or light. Heavy ball: aim lower, use shorter shots, bank off walls. Light ball: it bounces further, so distance shots and angle plays work well.
Wait one second after a miss. Ragdoll physics often flop your character into a perfect rebounding position a moment after landing. Jumping again immediately usually takes you the wrong direction.
Spread your two characters in 2v2. One near your hoop for defense, one near center for the ball. Stacking both in the same spot leaves half the court empty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who made Basket Random?
Basket Random was developed by RHM Interactive, an independent studio behind the entire Random sports series including Soccer Random, Hockey Random, and Volleyball Random. It was released in 2020 as an HTML5 browser game.
What are the controls for Basket Random?
Player 1 uses the W key. Player 2 uses the Up Arrow key. Both keys handle everything — hold to carry the ball and jump, release to shoot. On mobile, tap your half of the screen to control your team.
How many points do you need to win?
The first team to reach 5 points wins the match. After each basket, the game randomizes a new court, player proportions, and ball physics before the next point starts.
Is Basket Random the same as Basketball Random?
Yes — Basket Random and Basketball Random are the same game. Different sites use different names but the developer, controls, rules, and gameplay are identical.
Can you play Basket Random with 2 players?
Yes. Player 1 uses W and Player 2 uses the Up Arrow on the same keyboard. There is no online multiplayer — both players share one device. On mobile, each player taps their half of the screen.
Can I play Basket Random at school?
Yes. Basket Random is an HTML5 game with no download or plugin required. It runs on school Chromebooks and through most school network filters. Play it unblocked at p2o.io.
Why does everything change after every basket?
That’s the entire design of the Random series. After each point, the court, player body proportions, and ball physics randomize for the next round. Neither player can settle into a fixed strategy — you adapt every single point. Some rounds even award double points for a basket.
