What Is Vex 7?

Vex 7 is a 2D stickman precision platformer developed by Amazing Adam, released on October 27, 2022. It’s the seventh game in the Vex series — one of the longest-running and most respected skill-based platformer series in browser gaming. Every entry in the series adds new mechanics while keeping the core loop the same: get your stickman from one end of an act to the other without being destroyed by the traps in between.

Vex 7 specifically introduces a paraglider mechanic, security cameras that trigger laser beams, auto-turrets, and a new endless mode called Tower of Terror. It builds on everything from Vex 6 and is widely considered the most mechanically rich entry in the series to date.

How to Play Vex 7

  1. Navigate through each Act by running, jumping, sliding, wall-climbing, and using the new movement tools to avoid every hazard between you and the exit portal.
  2. Touch checkpoint flags as you pass them. These save your progress within an act — dying sends you back to the last flag you touched, not the beginning of the level.
  3. Collect stars hidden throughout each act. Stars contribute to trophies and unlock optional extra challenges for completing each act fully.
  4. Use the paraglider in sections with fan air currents. Fly into a fan to gain height, release the Up key to descend, and stay centered in the air current to avoid electric fences on the edges.
  5. Watch your oxygen in water sections. Staying submerged too long drowns you. Pulse the jump button (tap rather than hold) to swim faster without wasting air.
  6. Reach the exit portal at the end of each act to complete it and move to the next one.

Game Modes

  • Standard Acts – 9 acts of increasing difficulty. Each act ends with a special “Vexation” finale stage that combines everything from that act into one brutal final section. This is the main campaign.
  • Hardcore Acts – The same 9 acts but with increased trap speed, additional hazards, and no room for error. Unlocks after completing the corresponding standard act.
  • Tower of Terror – New in Vex 7. An endless mode where you descend through a continuously changing tower packed with traps and enemies. No finish line — survive as long as possible and collect Tower Coins for your high score.
  • Ghost Mode – Race against a recording of your own previous run through a level. The ghost shows you exactly where you’re losing time and helps you refine your route.

New Features in Vex 7

  • Paraglider – A new traversal tool that lets you glide long distances using fan air currents. Essential for certain level sections and one of the most memorable additions to the series.
  • Security Cameras + Laser Beams – Cameras sweep sections of a level; being spotted triggers a laser beam that instantly kills you. You need to stay out of their vision cone and time your movements around their rotation.
  • Auto-Turrets – Fixed or rotating gun turrets that fire projectiles on a pattern. Learning the fire rhythm is the key to passing turret sections safely.
  • Falling Blocks – Blocks that collapse when you land on them. Get across before they drop.
  • Tower of Terror Mode – The new endless high-score mode described above.
  • Daily Rewards – Log in each day for a bonus reward that helps with progression.

Hazards and Obstacles

  • Spikes – Instant death on contact. Placed at landings, in corridors, and under platforms.
  • Saw blades – Rotating or moving blades that follow predictable patterns. Learn the cycle before crossing.
  • Moving platforms – Platforms that shift or swing. Time your jump to land at the right moment in their movement cycle.
  • Falling blocks – Collapse when stood on. Move quickly or avoid landing on them entirely.
  • Water sections – Swimming with an oxygen meter. Running out of air kills you. Pulse the jump button rather than holding to maintain speed with less air consumption.
  • Security cameras – Rotating cameras that trigger laser beams if they spot you. Stay outside their vision cone.
  • Auto-turrets – Fire on patterns. Learn the timing and cross during the gap between shots.
  • Fan air currents – Used with the paraglider for traversal. Electric fences line the edges of air current tunnels — stay centered.
  • Zip lines – Traverse between platforms at speed. Watch what’s waiting at the landing end before you grab one.

Collectibles and Trophies

Trophies are earned across all four modes:

  • Standard Acts: Complete each act, collect all stars, and hit the speedrun time requirement for that act.
  • Hardcore Acts: Complete the hardcore version, collect all stars, and finish without any deaths.
  • Tower of Terror: Reach specific score milestones in the endless mode.
  • Achievements: Complete specific challenges across the game.

Coins and stars collected throughout the game unlock character skins. Daily login rewards also contribute to your skin collection over time.

The Vex Series

Vex 7 is the seventh entry in Amazing Adam’s series that began with the original Vex. The franchise timeline: Vex 1 (original), Vex 2, Vex 3 (August 2014), Vex 4 (October 2018), Vex 5 (November 2020), Vex 6 (October 2021), Vex 7 (October 2022). If you’ve never played any of the earlier games, Vex 7 is a fine starting point — but if you want the gentler introduction, starting from Vex 4 or 5 and working up gives you a better feel for how the mechanics evolved.

Tips and Tricks

  • Learn trap patterns before moving. Every hazard in Vex 7 is predictable. Watch a full cycle of any moving trap before committing to crossing it — one death teaching you the pattern is better than ten deaths caused by rushing blind.
  • Use jump buffering. Press jump a few milliseconds before your stickman lands on a platform. The game buffers this input and fires the jump the exact frame you touch ground. This keeps your momentum flowing through long parkour sequences instead of pausing for a landing.
  • Pulse the jump button in water. Tapping jump repeatedly while swimming (rather than holding it) moves you faster and uses less oxygen. Holding the button wastes air on inefficient strokes.
  • Don’t skip checkpoints for deathless runs. Unless you’re specifically trying to get a deathless trophy, always trigger every checkpoint. Missing one and dying far into an act sends you back much further than necessary.
  • S-turn wall jumps in narrow shafts. Instead of climbing one wall, alternate between both walls in a zig-zag pattern. It’s faster than sticking to one side and conserves vertical momentum.
  • Use Ghost Mode to find time losses. After clearing an act, replay it in Ghost Mode against your own time. It’s the fastest way to spot exactly which section is costing you the most time.
  • In Tower of Terror, prioritize coins over survival. The high score comes from tower coins, not just how far you descend. Grabbing coins in risky positions is worth it more than playing purely safely.
  • Paraglider: release Up to drop fast. In fan current sections, holding Up keeps you high. Releasing it lets you drop quickly when you need to dodge a hazard below your current glide path.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who made Vex 7?

Vex 7 was developed by Amazing Adam, the creator of the entire Vex series. He also developed The Lost Duck among other titles.

When was Vex 7 released?

October 27, 2022.

How many levels does Vex 7 have?

9 Standard Acts and 9 Hardcore Acts, with each act ending in a Vexation finale stage. Tower of Terror is an additional endless mode with no fixed level count.

What is the Vexation stage?

The final section of each act — a gauntlet that combines the traps and mechanics from that act into one concentrated challenge. Completing it finishes the act.

What is Tower of Terror in Vex 7?

A new endless mode where you descend through a continuously changing tower of traps. The goal is to survive as long as possible and collect Tower Coins for a high score. There is no finish — it goes on until you die.

What is the paraglider?

A new mechanic in Vex 7. Flying into fan air currents lets you glide horizontally for long distances. Stay centered in the current to avoid electric fences on the edges. Release the Up key to drop quickly when needed.

How do checkpoints work?

Checkpoints are flags scattered throughout each act. Touch one to set your respawn point. If you die, you restart from the last flag you activated — not the beginning of the act.

What is Ghost Mode?

A mode where you race against a recording of your own previous run. Your ghost follows the exact path you took last time while you play your current run — useful for finding where you’re losing time.

How do I swim faster in Vex 7?

Tap the jump button repeatedly (pulse it) rather than holding it. This moves you faster and uses less oxygen than holding down the swim button continuously.

Can I play on mobile or Chromebook?

Yes. Vex 7 works on any modern browser, Chromebooks, and on mobile with on-screen touch controls.
